Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She earned an Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell started her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. 1976 Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years after that as a general reporter. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. Mitchell became the the chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. She was on the panel during the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004 The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. She covered a wide range of noteworthy stories including arms control the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell went on numerous trips with the President Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
