Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) better known by her professional moniker Ari Lennox is an American artist and singer hailing who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be affiliated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. On October 21, 2016, she released Pho, her first EP under the label Dreamville Records. This was when she began to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music on the internet in 2012 as she dropped her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her single Bound and her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as from Sweat It Out, July 21st in 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time was interested in having her work on Rihanna references. On December 8 it was announced that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she sang together with Cozz in her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. On October 21, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and was an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. Also, she was featured on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas and her labelmates. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. The music video later released in September. In November, she released two singles, 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November, 13 she dropped two more singles titled One and Pdigree. One or Pdigree. She was featured with Cole on The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16and later made the track available as a solo single to the album she released her debut. It was released with an accompanying music video that debuted in February 20th, 2019 and surpassed 3 million views via YouTube in one week. The singer was a part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
